Sailing Bali Indonesia August 12 - 19 2017

The impossibly beautiful coastlines of Bali and Lombok have to be seen to be believed – no postcard can do them justice. And the best way to see them? Aboard the Star Clipper, a true clipper ship where the traditions of the past are happily married to the comforts and amenities of the present day.  This seven-day sailing adventure through paradise incarnate will introduce you to the fabulous Gili Islands in a weeklong blur of snorkelling excursions, kayaking tours, beachfront bars, and all the mellowing-out you can handle.

Star Clipper, 360 feet long and carrying just 170 guests in pampered comfort, is a modern cruise ship in every way, created for luxury-loving passengers who also love the traditions and romance of the legendary era of sailing ships. Life aboard is blissfully relaxed, much like traveling on a private yacht, with spacious accommodations, expansive teak decks, and two swimming pools.  Antique prints and paintings of famous sailing ships please the eye, while teak and gleaming mahogany rails are richly reminiscent of Star Clippers’ proud nautical heritage.

Enjoy a yacht-like ambience, personalized service, elegant open-seating dining, and international cuisine on this “soft adventure cruise” that includes numerous water sports such as windsurfing, snorkeling, water-skiing, banana boating, and sunfish sailing. Scuba diving is available for a small fee.

August 14                                   At Sea

Enjoy a leisurely day aboard Star Clipper while we sail toward Komodo Island

August 15                                   Komodo National Park - Komodo, Indonesia (morning)

Explore Komodo Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and catch a glimpse of the Komodo Lizard.  These giant lizards, existing no-where else in the world, are of great scientific interest, especially for their evolutionary implications. Most commonly known as 'Komodo Dragons', due to its size and appearance, the Komodo Lizard is the largest living species of lizard, growing to an average length of 2 to 3 meters. The species is the last representative of a relic population of large lizards that once lived across Indonesia and Australia.

August 15                                   Pink Beach - Komodo, Indonesia (afternoon)

A relaxing afternoon at Pink Beach, one of only seven of its kind in the world.  The sand appears pink because it is a mixture of white sand combined with red sand, formed from pieces of Foraminifera - miniscule shells of plankton.

August 16                                   Satonda Island, Indonesia

Satonda Island is a flooded volcano — the lake is salt water, not fresh. The story goes that when Tambora erupted, a massive wave washed over the edge of Satonda’s crater rim, filling it with water. A second popular story is that the trees lining the edge of the lake have the power to grant wishes. What you do is tie a rock to one of the trees and make a wish. If the wish subsequently comes true it is your duty to return to the island and give thanks.

August 17                                   Gili Meno & Gili Trawangan - Lombok, Indonesia

The smallest and quietest of the three main Gilis, Gili Meno arguably has some of the best beaches in the world – swathes of white sand scattered with squat trees, fringed with crystal clear water. Gili Trawangan has a very friendly vibe, and is full of people keen to get to know one another. The snorkelling, diving and sunbathing spots on Gili Trawangan are world class.

August 18                                       Gili Nanggu - Lombok, Indonesia

Gili Nanggu boasts dreamlike beaches with crystal clear water where you perfectly can snorkel, dive or simply have a bath. The beaches are quiet and peaceful since this is a private island. It’s perfect for snorkeling, diving or relaxing on your day trip from the ship.
